ISLAMABAD: The closing ceremony of Lok Mela 2025 wrapped up with a vibrant celebration of Pakistan’s cultural diversity, placing a special spotlight on the remarkable artisans of Gilgit-Baltistan. One of the most distinguished honours of the evening was awarded to Mr. Ghulam Haider from Ghanche, renowned for his mastery in traditional stone carving. He received a special recognition award and a cash prize of Rs. 500,000, presented by the chief guest, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs. The award highlighted Mr. Haider’s lifelong dedication to preserving the centuries-old stone carving heritage of Gilgit-Baltistan—an art form that continues to captivate visitors from across the country. Earlier during the festival’s opening ceremony, Mr. Haider had already earned national admiration for his exceptional craftsmanship. His recognition at the concluding event marked another proud moment for the region, showcasing the cultural richness and artistic excellence of Gilgit-Baltistan at a national platform. Lok Mela 2025 once again proved to be a powerful cultural bridge, celebrating the colours, crafts, and creativity that define Pakistan’s diverse heritage.
