ITB Berlin 2026

The Department of Tourism, Sports and Culture Gilgit-Baltistan successfully participated in the ITB Berlin 2026, one of the world’s leading travel and tourism exhibitions. The event was held from 3–5 March 2026 in Berlin, bringing together thousands of tourism and travel exhibitors from nearly 180 countries around the globe. Under the Gilgit-Baltistan Rules of Business 2009, the promotion of tourist destinations and marketing of tourism products are among the core responsibilities of the Department of Tourism. In line with this mandate, the department regularly participates in national and international tourism exhibitions to promote the region’s immense tourism potential, particularly its growing adventure tourism sector, at the global level. The Department of Tourism, Sports and Culture Gilgit-Baltistan has been participating in ITB Berlin consistently for the past 13 years. This year as well, the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan joined the Pakistan Pavilion through the platform of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation, alongside other provinces of Pakistan. At the pavilion, the delegation highlighted the region’s breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and diverse opportunities for adventure tourism to the international tourism community. The Gilgit-Baltistan delegation was led by Secretary Tourism, Sports and Culture, Faisal Ahsan Pirzada, accompanied by Director Tourism and Culture, Iqbal Hussain. During the exhibition, the delegation held meetings with various international tour operators, tourism organizations, and potential investors, where they presented the tourism opportunities available in Gilgit-Baltistan. Participation in this major global tourism exhibition is expected to significantly enhance international awareness of Gilgit-Baltistan’s tourism potential, encourage a greater influx of foreign tourists, and contribute positively to the socio-economic development of the region.
