Gilgit: The Government of Gilgit-Baltistan Tourism, Sports, Culture, Archaeology and Museums Department held a formal welcome and farewell ceremony at the GB Secretariat, Gilgit, to mark the transition of leadership in the department.
Newly appointed Secretary Sardar Asad Haroon officially assumed charge of his office. Following the handover, departmental officers briefed him on ongoing affairs, development projects and future priorities of the department.
Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Asad Haroon said all possible measures would be taken to promote tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan and modernize the sector according to emerging needs. He emphasized the importance of identifying young talent and providing opportunities for children and youth to develop their skills.
He further stated that the department would encourage young people and digital media creators who are promoting the tourism potential, culture and positive image of Gilgit-Baltistan at the global level through online platforms.
A graceful farewell was also arranged in honor of outgoing Secretary Faisal Ahsan Pirzada, whose services were appreciated during the ceremony.
The event was attended by Minister for Tourism, Sports and Culture Syed Adil Shah, senior officials and officers of the department.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, senior officers presented traditional Gilgit-Baltistan shawls, caps and commemorative gifts to Sardar Asad Haroon and Faisal Ahsan Pirzada.
