Sajid Ali Sadpara Honored by Gilgit-Baltistan Tourism Department After Historic No-Oxygen Ascent of Mount Makalu

Gilgit: The Tourism, Sports and Culture Department of Gilgit-Baltistan has officially paid tribute to its esteemed employee and internationally recognized mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara following his remarkable achievement of summiting Mount Makalu (8,485 meters), the world’s fifth-highest peak, without the use of supplemental oxygen. According to the department’s statement, Sajid Ali Sadpara’s accomplishment represents an extraordinary demonstration of endurance, technical skill, and professional excellence. It added that his achievement has brought pride not only to Gilgit-Baltistan but also to Pakistan at the international level. The department further highlighted that such achievements by its employees significantly contribute to promoting a positive global image of the region as a hub for high-altitude adventure and mountaineering excellence. Sajid Ali Sadpara is widely recognized for continuing the legacy of his father, Muhammad Ali Sadpara, one of Pakistan’s most celebrated high-altitude climbers. He has previously successfully summited several of the world’s highest peaks, including multiple 8,000-meter mountains, many of them without supplemental oxygen. The department extended its heartfelt congratulations to Sajid Ali Sadpara and expressed best wishes for his continued success in future expeditions.
